Kia ora te whānau,
I hope you’ve all fared well over the last unprecedented days of Cyclone Gabrielle and extended family members around the motu are safe. It was certainly a relief hearing from my brother in Gisborne and sister in Napier. Wednesday night’s Earthquake was certainly not the icing on the cake!
I received yesterday, the bus arrangements for the School’s Day next Friday (24th). There is a wonderful programme organised for the Wairarapa schools and we are really looking forward to the day. The last one in 2021 was a real success and the children (and parents/teachers) thoroughly enjoyed the day. Like last time the day is free and the bus is subsidised. There will however be a $5 charge for each student to make up the difference. We are appreciative of the bus company for subsidising the trip to Hood Aerodrome in Masterton - the venue.
The bus arrangements are as follows:
The bus for all students will leave Dalefield School at 9:20 am
We are then directed to the activities for the different age groups over the venue. Like last time the younger children are on a shortened programme and will return to Dalefield on an earlier bus.
The students from Years 1 to 3 will leave the airfield at 12:10 pm
The students from Years 4 up will leave the airfield at 2:20 pm
As with any visit like this, parent assistance is a necessity. Please indicate on page 2 (sign and scan or photo/screenshot is absolutely fine) or talk to your child’s teacher, if you are able to assist - we thank you in advance: Given that this is always popular, offers of assistance will be accepted on a first in, first serve basis.

I am trying to make the permission and approval process for trips and visits as simple as possible.
On Monday you will receive a blanket local trip permission form to fill in (Yes a paper copy :), to allow trips and visits around the local area. The advantage being that it avoids the necessity to seek permission for every trip.
NOTE: You will however always receive a notice about a trip prior. We will need this form back to school prior to Wings please.
This is always a really important part of the Dalefield School learning calendar. It is an opportunity to collectively set the learning goals with your child here at school (both shorter and longer-term). It is important that we foster this partnership together and all attend.
On Monday you will receive a notification on Hero regarding a booking time. There are 15 minute time slots available for you to select and I am looking forward to catching up with you all then.
Note: On the Monday you will see that the conferences start at 1:15pm. I along with the teacher aides will be supervising the children till 3:00pm in the Whetū learning space. Janelle will meet in my office during this time.
School Picnic Evening Tuesday 28 February
On the 28th from 5:30 pm there will be a picnic here at school. This is a great time for us all to get together over a picnic dinner, and is especially valuable for the new families to connect. A reminder will be sent out closer to the time and this year we hope it’ll be warm enough to open up the pool!
So grab some kai and pop along to the school from 5:30pm.
Last Friday our tamariki from Year 5 up spent an amazing day at Riversdale partaking in the beach education programme…and what an amazing day it was. The children absolutely loved it and huge thanks from the school for the outstanding contribution of parents to the day - you are amazing!
The school calendar on the Hero App is constantly updated and this jigsaw below will always be updated on the newsletters.
