Kia ora te Whānau,
What a great start to the term we have had. This is certainly going to be a short one with only a total of eight and a half weeks. A reminder that there is a staff-only day next Tuesday 25 October, following Labour Day.
I’m sure you’ll all agree that the photos Debbie has taken this week are amazing. She really knows how to capture the best from your children and what a record they are.
The chooks have arrived and I take absolutely no responsibility for the names. Each class has claimed a hen and already they (the chooks) are happily ensconced in their new home. It was however a dramatic first night for them with their house blowing over and some rounding up needed this morning, but with four eggs already, they’re pretty unscathed. The chooks are an integral part of the developments at Dalefield. From eating the vegetable and fruit scraps to providing poo for the gardens, they are part of us. Mangatarere 1 students are underway planning their environment and the care regime and will be in touch with the community shortly.
Any assistance and/or advice in running the hens will be gratefully received.
Our school’s website has undergone a refresh. Elton from Gregory Studio originally developed the website in 2017 for us. He has completed an update this month and over the next week we will be populating staff photos/profiles and Board of Trustees information pages etc. I am thrilled with how it’s looking and it will form along with Hero and our Facebook pages, part of the communication package for the school. We will repopulate the newsletters from the last six months but all of them from the last two years, are of course on Hero.
There has been a great response from families - thank you. The teams are being sorted and you will be receiving all the information with the draws etc. We always manage to field a good number of teams and it’s looking like four teams again this year.
Next week there will be a newsletter coming your way with important dates and times for the term.
Again, thank you again for your support of our school and I wish you a wonderful long weekend.
Ngā mihi nui,
Eric Daubé
